Celts, megaliths and Phoenicians

The Neolithic people who built Newgrange seem to have belonged to a rich and powerful culture, farming and trading along the Atlantic coastline from the Orkneys to Brittany and beyond
Siman Bostock, Celtic Connections 1996

There may have been trade in British oysters before the Greek and Roman eras. The megalithic map of Europe can be overlaid almost precisely with the geography of oyster colonies. The long barrows and ancient stone tombs are rarely found more than 30 miles from the sea.
